A week in Java – Indonesia
Everything is moving. Everyone is definitely moving. There are so many people and so many things moving. The island has 120million people on it. The country has 240 million, which seems difficult to grasp when you look at a map. Relatively small, Java in particular is also the home of the giant Mecca of Jakarta, a massive city, that puts the ‘huge cosmopolitan’ feel of London to shame. With a sprawl that is just too big to comprehend, you do what all the tourists do. See the stuff the touts and guidebooks tell you to. Our time in Java was just that. Getting swept up in the whirlwind of a huge machine that sucks in tourists and then spits them out again – a few hundred thousand rupiah lighter! Thanks to David & Sadly for temporarily taking us out of that whirlwind for a couple of days – your hospitality was not only welcomed, but somewhat of a necessity after the chaos that is Yogya, and Jakarta.
